Kareena Kapoor Khan Joins Shah Rukh Khan's 'King' for a Dance Number

Kareena Kapoor Khan will appear in Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film "King," the actress confirmed on social media on the actor's birthday, according to TV9 Bangla. Her post announced a reunion of the pair on screen after several years and set off excitement among film fans. The film is scheduled to reach cinemas on 24 December 2026.

Why it matters

Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan have shared the screen in films including "Asoka," "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" and "Ra.One," and TV9 Bangla reports that audiences were drawn to their pairing in those titles. Their return together in "King" has therefore been one of the more closely followed developments around the project.

The timing of the announcement added to its impact. Kareena disclosed the news on the day Shah Rukh marked his birthday, turning a personal occasion into a public moment for the film's promotion.

A black-and-white image and a caption addressed to 'the King'

Kareena shared a monochrome photograph with a moody, high-contrast look on Instagram, paired with a birthday message for Shah Rukh, TV9 Bangla reports. In the caption she addressed him as the eternal ruler of "this kingdom" and wrote that they should dance together now, adding that she could not wait. She closed the post with the date "24-12-26."

Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh's wife, responded in the comments, writing that the result was going to be truly extraordinary, according to TV9 Bangla.

A special appearance built around one song

Kareena will not play a full role in "King," TV9 Bangla reports. Instead she will appear as a special attraction in a large-scale musical dance sequence, which will serve as the on-screen reunion of the two actors after their long gap.

The track has been titled "Daddy Cool," according to the report. Kareena is expected to film the dance number over five consecutive days at locations in South Africa later this month.

The music for the film is being handled by the composer duo Sachin-Jigar, TV9 Bangla reports. There is also strong speculation that the song will feature an international pop star alongside an Indian singer, though the makers have so far kept that artist's identity under wraps. If confirmed, the collaboration would rank among the film's main musical draws.

What to watch

With the song shoot set for South Africa this month and the release fixed for 24 December 2026, the next developments to watch are the unveiling of the mystery international artist and the first look at the "Daddy Cool" number itself.
